Staying healthy while working in a coworking space
Spending the whole day sitting at a desk, working at computers, and answering phones are just some of the activities one might observe in an office. Of course, none of these activities burn calories, except perhaps in your fingers.
Some office workers may take the time to work out before work or after leaving the office, but the reality is: Sitting in one place for long isn’t good for your health. Your body is made to walk, run, and be active. While we can’t always leave our jobs to stay fit, there is an effort that can be made in the office.
Here are some tips:
- You don’t always need equipment to exercise. If you have a few moments, after every task, stretch your back, stretch your hands up, or touch your toes. You can develop your flexibility and get out any kinks-- an important part of stay fit.
- If you can have workout equipment, it’s good to have some at your desk. Stretching and yoga don't require equipment, but if you want to incorporate more options there’s a way!bYou can also elect to keep a pair of dumbbells under your desk. Do some sets when you have time.
Anything that you can do to keep your body in motion will help you avoid back pain and keep you fit simultaneously. There’s strength in numbers and it’s probably that there are others in your office space that are interested in keeping up with their fitness as well.
By working at Bellefonte SpringBoard, you have access to a great walking area just across the street: Talleyrand Park.
Our members have said that the park is one of the things that really made them interested in the space. It's a great place to take a walk, get through a creative block and stay active during the work day.
